The invention relates to a foundation pit earthwork excavation method which comprises the following steps: after paying-off measurement of a deep foundation pit is completed, N layers of horizontal supporting steel plates are designed in the deep foundation pit from top to bottom according to the engineering condition of the deep foundation pit, and foundation pit earthwork is excavated layer by layer by adopting an island type excavation method, N is greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 20; outer side steel sheet piles are driven downwards along the wall of the deep foundation pit; earthwork above the first-layer horizontal supporting steel plate is excavated, one end of the first-layer horizontal supporting steel plate is welded to the outer-side steel plate pile, and the inner-side steel plate pile is downwards driven into the other end of the first-layer horizontal supporting steel plate; and in the same way, the Nth layer of horizontal supporting steel plate is constructed, a ramp is built, earthwork below the Nth layer of horizontal supporting steel plate is excavated, and deep foundation pit earthwork excavation is completed.
