Apparatus and method for producing auxiliary cementitious material
The invention relates to a device for heat-treating solid materials, in particular solid materials in granular form, where the device comprises a kiln and an external heat source, where the device comprises at least two steps arranged above one another, where each step comprises a gas-permeable inclined sliding surface, and where the sliding surface is inclined relative to the kiln. The bed of solid material slides downwards on the gas permeable inclined sliding surfaces within the device due to gravity, and wherein the inclined sliding surfaces of the steps are inclined directly consecutively to each other in opposite directions, and wherein the kiln comprises at least one, preferably at least two, of the steps, and the kiln is configured such that a hot gas generated by an external heat source is directed through the solid material inside the kiln to heat the solid material to a desired temperature, thereby changing the material properties of the solid material. According to the invention, the device comprises at least one gas temperature regulation system comprising a gas outlet in a second one of the steps, a temperature regulation zone, and a gas inlet in a first one of the steps, preferably a temperature regulation zone, the first step is arranged directly contiguous with and above the second step, where at least the first step is one of the at least one step inside the kiln, and where the gas temperature regulation system is adapted such that hot gas is extracted from the second step through the gas outlet, the hot gas is introduced into a temperature regulation zone in which the hot gas temperature is regulated by an external heat source to a regulated temperature and is re-introduced into the first step at the regulated temperature. The invention further relates to a method for producing an auxiliary cementitious material.
