The invention relates to an on-arch hoisting system for mounting a large-tonnage component of a variable-cross-section steel arch bridge. The on-arch hoisting system comprises a rail system, a crane system and a traction system, the track system comprises a plurality of track seats welded on the arch ribs, and track beams are welded on the track seats along the longitudinal direction of the arch ribs; the crane system comprises four on-arch cranes, each arch rib is provided with two on-arch cranes, each on-arch crane is provided with a hoisting winch and a balancing winch, the two on-arch cranes on the same arch rib are connected through a connecting rope, and the opposite on-arch cranes on the two arch ribs are connected through a distance adjusting steel wire rope. Two ends of the distance adjusting steel wire rope are respectively connected with the balance winches on the two arch cranes; the traction system comprises a plurality of traction winches arranged at the bridge head, and the traction winches pull the arch crane to walk on the arch rib through traction cables. The method can be suitable for arch bridges with equal variable cross sections and variable cross sections, and various types of arch ribs such as steel box arches, steel pipe arches and triangular cross section arches.
