The invention discloses a counterweight energy-saving type steel cable driving gate which comprises a gate body, a gate frame, a counterweight body and a rotating mechanism, the gate frame comprises a left stand column and a right stand column, the height size of the counterweight body is smaller than that of the gate, the rotating mechanism comprises a rotating shaft, and a first steel cable section and a second steel cable section are wound on the rotating shaft; the ends of the first steel cable section and the second steel cable section are connected with the gate body and the balance weight body respectively, the winding directions of the first steel cable section and the second steel cable section on the rotating shaft are opposite, the rotating mechanism drives the gate body and the balance weight body to lift up and down relatively, and a gap exists between the gate body and the balance weight body which lift up and down relatively. The counterweight body and the gate are combined through the rope winding device and the rotating shaft, the gate can be opened and closed only by providing a small driving force to drive the initial speed through the power mechanism, and therefore the purpose of saving energy consumption is achieved.
