The invention belongs to the field of ocean engineering, and particularly relates to a tending type wave making device and a wave making method.The device is arranged in an experimental pool and comprises a wave making mechanism, a pressing mechanism and a sliding block mechanism, the pressing mechanism is connected with the sliding block mechanism, the wave making mechanism is arranged in the pool, and the pressing mechanism makes contact with the wave making mechanism and presses the wave making mechanism to make waves; the wave making mechanism comprises a wave making plate, the pressing mechanism comprises a pressing plate, and the sliding block mechanism comprises a sliding block and a lead screw sliding table; according to the wave making device, a pressing plate presses a wave making plate to generate waves by controlling the extension distance of push rods of two electric cylinders, and meanwhile, a sliding block is controlled to move back and forth along a lead screw sliding table, so that different types of waves are generated. Compared with the prior art, the device is simple in structure, waves with different sizes, different directions and different waveforms can be made, and various complex sea conditions can be simulated.
