The invention relates to the technical field of peak-shaving thermal power plant pressure stabilizing equipment, and discloses an adjustable expansion water tank for a peak-shaving thermal power plant, which comprises a water tank body, the water tank body is communicated with a closed cold water system through a water inlet pipe, and the bottom of the water tank body is provided with a drain pipe; water in the closed cold water system enters the water tank body from the water inlet pipe and is discharged outwards from the water discharging pipe so that balance water with the rated liquid level can be formed in the water tank body, a water supplementing pipe is arranged on one side of the water tank body, and an external water supplementing pump is connected to the water supplementing pipe. The water tank body is further provided with a pressure intensity adjusting assembly used for changing the pressure intensity in the water tank body and a monitoring assembly used for monitoring the balance water liquid level in real time. The monitoring assembly is electrically connected with an external make-up pump and the pressure intensity adjusting assembly. The system has the advantages that the system pressure is effectively adjusted, sudden change of the system pressure is slowed down, and the system works stably.
