The invention discloses a sanitary ceramic and a preparation method thereof, and belongs to the technical field of ceramics, the sanitary ceramic comprises a ceramic body and a glaze layer, the glaze layer is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 30 to 35 parts of feldspar, 23 to 26 parts of quartz, 10 to 15 parts of calcite, 5 to 8 parts of dolomite, 6 to 9 parts of zirconium silicate, 3 to 6 parts of zinc oxide, 2 to 3 parts of aluminum oxide, 1 to 3 parts of frit, 0.5 to 2 parts of modified silicon carbide whisker and 0.05 to 0.1 part of dispersing aid. The preparation method comprises the following steps: 1, preparing a sanitary ceramic green body; step 2, carrying out ball milling on the frit in advance according to parts by weight, then adding the rest raw materials, mixing, adding water, continuously carrying out ball milling, and then removing iron and sieving to obtain glaze slip; step 3, uniformly spraying the glaze slip on a sanitary ceramic green body to obtain a glazed green body; and step 4, performing glaze firing on the glazed green body to obtain the sanitary ceramic which is smooth and glossy in appearance and has good anti-pollution and antibacterial effects.
