The invention discloses a control method of a swimming pool robot and the swimming pool robot. The method comprises the following steps: acquiring at least one piece of distance information from a swimming pool robot to a swimming pool boundary; and under the condition that the distance information is smaller than or equal to a preset distance, based on the direction corresponding to the distance information, the swimming pool robot is controlled to advance in the direction. According to the method, invalid paths and time consumption in the process that the swimming pool robot moves the swimming pool boundary are reduced.
