Offenbart wird ein poröses Material mit hoher Festigkeit. Ein poröses Material 1 umfasst Aggregate 2 und ein Bindematerial 3, das zwischen den Aggregaten 2 bindet und Cordierit als eine Hauptkomponente umfasst, und die Oberflächen von Dreiphasengrenzflächen A, in denen sich die Aggregate 2, das Bindematerial 3 und Poren 4 kreuzen, sind glatt gebunden. Ferner kann bei dem porösen Material 1 das Bindematerial 3 mindestens eine Zusatzkomponente 5, ausgewählt aus der Gruppe, bestehend aus Strontium, Yttrium und Zirconium, umfassen, und die Biegefestigkeit des porösen Materials beträgt 5,5 MPa oder mehr, oder die Waben-Biegefestigkeit einer Wabenstruktur unter Verwendung des porösen Materials 1 kann 4,0 MPa oder mehr betragen.
