Ein Aspekt der Erfindung betrifft ein Haushaltsgerät (1) mit einem Gehäuse (2), mit zumindest einem Scharnier (5, 7), das an einer Front (6) des Gehäuse (2) angeordnet ist, und mit einer Tür (4), die an dem Scharnier (5, 7) angeordnet ist, und dadurch schwenkbar zum Gehäuse (2) angeordnet ist, wobei das Scharnier (5, 7) einen Lagerwinkel (15) aufweist, der an einer Stirnseite (8, 8a, 8b) der Front (6) mit zumindest einem Befestigungselement (32, 33) befestigt ist, wobei der Lagerwinkel (15) symmetrisch aufgebaut ist, so dass er zum wahlweisen an einer linksseitigen Stirnseite (8a) der Front (6) oder an einer rechtsseitigen Stirnseite (8b) der Front (6) verbaubar ist und in beiden Verbausituationen die an dem Lagerwinkel (15) angeordnete Tür (4) im geschlossenen Zustand in Höhenrichtung (y) und in Breitenrichtung (x) des Haushaltsgeräts (1) in gleicher Position zum Gehäuse (2) angeordnet ist. Ein Aspekt betrifft auch ein Verfahren.
