Gemäß der vorliegenden Erfindung ist eine Scharnieranordnung bereitgestellt, die einen ersten Teil, einen einen Scharniertopf umfassenden zweiten Teil und eine Dämpfungsvorrichtung umfasst, wobei der erste Teil drehbar mit dem zweiten Teil verbunden ist und zwischen einer ersten Stellung und einer zweiten Stellung bewegbar ist, wobei die Dämpfungsvorrichtung aus einer Stellung in dem Scharniertopf, wenn sich der erste Teil in seiner ersten Stellung befindet, in eine Stellung außerhalb des Scharniertopfs, wenn sich der erste Teil in seiner zweiten Stellung befindet, bewegbar ist.
A hinge assembly comprising a first part 12 pivotally connected to a second part comprising a hinge cup (14, fig 14) and a damping device 22, wherein the damping device is moveable from a position inside the cup when the hinge is in a first position to a position outside the cup when the hinge is in a second position. Further disclosed is a hinge having a cover 50 moveable between a first position and a second position such that the cover is operable to substantially conceal the hinge cup when the hinge assembly is open. The assembly may comprise a lever 42 pivotally attached to the cover such that the damping device acts upon the lever during the damping process. The lever may bear upon the first part during closure, and fold towards the cover during activation of the damping device.
