In a novel doped leucite glass ceramic powder (I) containing (a) leucite glass ceramic powder and (b) nano-particulate metal oxide powder of average particle size (d 5 0) 1-200 nm, the metal oxide is selected from lithium oxide (Li 2O), titanium dioxide (TiO 2), zinc oxide (ZnO) and lanthanum oxide (La 2O 3). Independent claims are included for: (1) a doped leucite glass ceramic (II) which (i) contains (a) a leucite glass ceramic and (b) nano-particulate metal oxide as above or (ii) is obtainable from (I); (2) the preparation of (II), by subjecting the powder (I) to sintering, optionally followed by chemical hardening; and (3) the use of (b) for the preparation of (I) or (II).
