GRAINS ABRASIFS A BASE D'OXYNITRURE D'ALUMINIUM
Abrasive particles based on aluminum oxynitride (AlON) have an equivalent aluminum nitride (AlN) content of 2.5-7.5 weight percent (wt.%) (measured on a pseudobinary Al2O3-AlN diagram) and have a structure comprising mostly phi' and gamma AlON. An Independent claim is also included for production of the abrasive particles by preparing a powder mixture of aluminum, aluminum nitride and/or aluminum oxynitride; either fusing the mixture or sintering it at 1950-2000 degrees C; and cooling the resulting particles at less than 1 degrees C/minute.
