The floor panel (1) has corresponding mechanical locking elements (7a,7b) on at least two sides (5a,5b,6a,6b), a core (4) a tread surface (2) and an underside (3), whereby at least one recess reaches from the underside into the core. The recess extends through about a third up to half of the thickness of the core and has width of somewhere between 1 and 10 millimeters. The floor panel has a rectangular shape with short and long sides, whereby the recess extends continuously from one short side to the opposite short side.
