In the production of a coated product (A) consisting of solid fragments encapsulated with a binder, by heating at least part of the solid fragments to more than 100[deg]C, the gases emitted during the heating are collected and separated into a suspended material fraction and a gaseous fraction. Independent claims are included for: (1) corresponding production apparatus for (A), comprising a mixing station (1) for the solid fragments, connected to an emitted gas treatment station (25) in which the emitted gases are at least partially collected and at least some of the materials suspended in the gas are separated; and (2) an emitted gas treatment station, comprising a gas scrubber for contacting a scrubbing liquid with emitted gases and a decanter for recovering at least part of the product from the scrubber.
