The method involves determining one of the nominal values for rotational direction and/or travel speed and/or door position, and comparing the determined nominal value with an actual value. The actual values for rotational direction, travel speed, and/or door position are determined by a position sensor (4) when a difference between the actual value and the nominal value lies outside a predetermined range. A motorized braking process or a motorized stopping process is triggered, and the comparison between the nominal and actual value is permanently carried out. An independent claim is also included for a device for the execution of the method for safe braking of an electromotive powered door.
