The system has two retaining profiles (6, 6') arranged on narrow sides of rectangular floor panels (1, 2), where the retaining profiles extend in a longitudinal direction of the narrow sides. A rotation of the retaining profile (6) is oriented on the other retaining profile (6') about an upper locating edge (15). The upper locating edge runs parallel to a longitudinal extension of the retaining profiles (6, 6'), where a force is counteracted by an elastic deformation of the retaining profiles such that a surface and an opposing surface of the retaining profiles (6, 6') are retained together.
