Oxide ceramic moldings, especially roofing tiles, bricks, fair faced bricks, facade slabs and facade walls, have a coating (1) containing a photocatalytic material which partially penetrates the oxide ceramic base (3). The photocatalytic layer contains a hydrophobic barrier (2) which also penetrates the oxide ceramic. Independent claims are included for: (A) production of the moldings by: (a) applying a suspension of photocatalytic material to the moldings and hardening it; (b) applying a solution or suspension of barrier material to the product and drying it, and (c) optionally irradiating the product with UV; and (B) production of the moldings by: (a) applying a suspension containing a photocatalytic material and a barrier material and hardening the layer; (b) optionally applying a solution or suspension of barrier material and hardening the layer produced; (c) optionally irradiating with UV or sunlight, the barrier material used in the first stage acting as a binder.
