The method involves attaching a multi-layer reinforcement mat (3) on a structural component (4) by using mechanical anchoring elements (5). A smoothing cement of hydraulic-setting material is filled into outer fabric layers of the reinforcement mat. The smoothing cement is allowed to set to form a formwork (1), where the smoothing cement is infiltrated into the outer fabric layers through a hose by applying pressure. A space between the formwork and the structural component is filled with a free-flowing cement mortar mixture or concrete mixture (2). An independent claim is also included for a structural component provided with a reinforcement or facing layer from a multi-layer reinforcement mat.
