The machine i.e. road finisher (1), has an engine controller (11) that receives a control signal. A pump drive unit, a hydraulic-motor are provided for driving functional and operational components of the machine. The controller automatically starts and stops an internal combustion engine i.e. diesel engine (6), in response to reception of the control signal. A temperature sensor (14) is provided for generating the control signal. The temperature sensor measures temperature of a screed (10) of the machine. A timer is provided for generating the control signal.
