The screed (B) has an electro-hydraulic control (S') including a set of magnet-actuated directional control valves that controls a direction of a hydraulic cylinder (20) for acting on the hydraulic cylinder. Each directional control valve is a proportional directional control valve e.g. multiway-multiposition sliding valve. The directional control valves are utilized with proportional-electric direct actuation or hydraulic pilot control to change a rate of motion of the hydraulic cylinder guided by an operator or automatically depending on a set of laying parameters.
