The invention relates to a building, such as a dwelling, comprising a central cistern (6) arranged in the building and a number of water-using objects, such as a toilet in particular, arranged in the building, which water-using objects are connected via respective conduits to the central cistern (6), wherein for each water-using object a controllable valve (23) is arranged in the respective conduit (21) in order to enable water to be supplied from the central cistern (6) to the water-using object by operating the valve.
