For the vertically adjustment of a sliding door suspended on a running carriage (1), an adjusting screw (5) is guided through a bore (11) in the running-carriage carrier (7) and engages in a threaded bore (9) in the running carriage (1). The polygonal head (13) of the adjusting screw (5) is located in a recess (23) in the running-carriage carrier (7), and two opposite edge surfaces on the polygonal head (13) are positioned substantially along the inner side surfaces of the running-carriage carrier (7) and, when the latter is pushed into the retaining rail (27), can prevent turning of the adjusting screw (5).
