The device i.e. filter panel screen (1), has a filter element (10) comprising a cylindrical filter surface that projects relative to a frame-forming wall i.e. carrier plate (6). The filter element has retaining elements i.e. longitudinal compartments (32), facing each other with the surface to retain solid bodies e.g. debris and particles, which do not pass through the surface. A drive unit drives the filter element and/or a suction device i.e. pump, in relative movement with respect to each other such that the suction devices are successively brought in front of each retaining element. The drive unit consists of peripheral gear teeth (17), a pinion (18) and a drive motor. An independent claim is also included for an installation comprising a channel.
