The invention relates to a screen arrangement (79) for a hydroelectric power plant, comprising a screen (21) to be arranged upstream of a turbine (16), at the top (10) of a vertical shaft (7), said top (10) of the shaft forming an inlet plane (11) that extends below the level (3) of the upstream water (2). The screen arrangement (79) further comprises a screen cleaning device (22) that includes a scraper (80) and a drive unit for the screen (21) and/or the scraper (80). The screen (21) and the screen cleaning device are designed to be arranged entirely below the level (3) of the upstream water (2).
