The discharge unit (9) has a discharge valve (10) for opening and closing a discharge opening arranged in the kitchen sink. The discharge unit also comprises a ventilation valve (14) which is connected with the discharge valve to provide the discharge valve with integrated ventilation function. The ventilation valve is provided in area of a discharge (28) of the discharge unit. The discharge is connected with an overflow unit for the sink. The ventilation valve has a valve housing (14a), in which a floater (26) is arranged. An independent claim is included for a method for ventilating a discharge unit of a sink, particularly a kitchen sink.
