The invention relates to a protective and/or combustible material (1), in particular for thermal insulation and/or protection from shocks or degradation, which includes at least one cellulosic plant material, characterized in that it includes at least one binding agent of plant origin in the natural state for retaining said cellulosic plant material in said material (1) by establishing chemical bonds between said binding agent and said cellulosic plant material, and in that it has a substantially uniform structure. The invention can be used in the field of protective and/or combustible materials.
