HIGH PERFORMANCE BIODEPOSITION FOR STRENGTHENING OF MATERIALS
The present invention relates to the microbial induced deposition of carbonate on and inside porous materials for strengthening purposes. More specifically, the invention relates to the usage of submicron sized particles, urea, metal salts and urease (microbial and/or non- microbial) with the aim of improving the extent and depth of strengthening while at the same time decreasing the formation of undesirable by-products, such as ammonium, which are associated with biodeposition.
