The invention relates to a soil compaction sleeve (8) comprising a sleeve jacket (9) formed in a substantially hollow cylindrical manner, a sleeve interior (11) surrounded at least in part by the sleeve jacket, a vibration exciter device (12) arranged in the sleeve interior and having at least one unbalanced shaft (13), guided in circulation about a rotation axis, with an unbalanced mass (15), wherein the rotational movement of the unbalanced shaft in the rotation axis is drivable by a drive device (16). The invention also relates to a roller (1) having such a soil compaction sleeve (8) and to a vibration exciter device (12) for such a soil compaction sleeve. An essential aspect of the invention is now that the vibration exciter device (12) is arranged in such a way in the sleeve interior (11) that the rotation axis of precisely one unbalanced shaft (13) extends vertically, that the vibration exciter device (12) is arranged in such a way in the sleeve interior via a bearing arrangement that the sleeve jacket (9) is rotatable with respect to the vibration exciter device (12) and the vertically extending rotation axis of the one unbalanced shaft (13) maintains its orientation with the sleeve jacket rotating about a horizontal rotation axis, and that the one vertically extending unbalanced shaft is part of a rotary exciter.
