METHOD OF HOMOGENIZATION OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE OR ULTRA-HIGH-PERFORMANCE CONCRETE
To obtain a dense structure of cement paste with the best physical and mechanical properties, it is necessary to reduce the water-to-binder ratio as much as possible. The reduction of water-to-binder ratio is limited by technological aspects of production of concrete, because its negative consequence is deterioration of workability of concrete. By adding the water with plasticizer into the smallest possible number of points in the mixture and by stopping the mixer at the same time, it is possible to reduce the water-to-binder ratio by up to 0.03 in comparison with the method commonly used in current industrial practice without negative influence on workability of concrete. As a result of reduction of water-to-binder ratio, physical and mechanical properties of concrete are improved. This mainly concerns its compressive and tensile strength. The improvement is given solely by the modification of homogenization procedure. There is no need to modify the constituents of concrete other than to reduce the amount of added water.
