A door handle device (10) for operating a latch (11) of a door, comprising a first spindle (15) and a second spindle (16), wherein the first spindle (15) is arranged for connection to the latch (11) and to a first handle (13) for operation of the latch (11) through rotation of the first handle (13), and wherein the second spindle (16) is arranged for connection to a second handle (14). The handle device (10) comprises an axially displaceable engaging device (17) being displaceable between a first position, in which the second spindle (16) is rotationally disengaged from the first spindle (15), and a second position, in which the second spindle (16) is rotationally engaged with the first spindle (15), so that the second spindle (16) is selectively connectable to the first spindle (15) for operation of the latch (11) through rotation of the second handle (14).
