The invention relates to a device for generating a standing wave in a flowing medium, which device comprises at least two ramp elements (1) arranged next to one another, which can be overflowed by the flowing medium. The ramp elements (1) are each assigned to an upper water with a first end, and to a lower water with a second end that is located opposite the first end, wherein the ramp elements (1) have different gradients in the flow direction. The invention further relates to the use of the device, and to the method for generating a standing wave in a flowing medium.
