The invention relates to a method for producing a roof tile (100) from clay (32) comprising the following steps: providing the moist, unprocessed clay (32), drying the clay (32) down to a defined moisture content, grinding the dried clay (32) to form a clay material (168) of broken grains in a mill (20), removing an undersize, the grain size of which lies below a defined grain size band, and removing an oversize, the grain size of which lies above a defined grain size band, introducing the clay material (168) into a pressing mold (110), which represents the shape of the roof tile (100), and pressing the clay material (168) in the pressing mold (110), wherein the clay material (168) is compressed.
