The floorboards comprising a mechanical joint system at two opposite edges for locking together adjacent joint edges of two adjacent floorboards. The decorative surface layer (31) at a first (4a) joint edge and the decorative surface layer (31) at a second (4b) joint edge overlap each other at the mechanical joint system at an overlapping part (31a). The overlapping part (31a) is located under a horizontal main surface (HP) of the decorative surface layer (31). A first joint surface of the first (4a) joint edge faces a second joint surface at the second (4b) joint edge and the first and the second joint surfaces are essentially parallel and essentially horizontal.
