An apparatus and a method for opening and closing has a handle, which is attached to a housing in pivotable fashion by means of a handle axis, and a lever joint, which is connected in pivotable fashion to the handle at a lever joint axis and to a slider link at a lever joint axis in each case. The lever joint axis between lever joint and slider link and the handle axis form an imaginary line. In the case of a closed position of the handle, the lever joint axis between lever joint and handle is situated in front of the imaginary line and it is situated therebehind in the case of an opened position of the handle, in which the apparatus releases a bolt.
