The invention relates to a composite material (1). Said material comprises 40% to 85% by volume of ceramic fillers (2) and 15% to 60% by volume of other constituents. The other constituents comprise at least one cement (3) and at least one polymer (4). The composite material may be used as a housing for a rechargeable battery and/or as a constituent of an electronic element, an electronic component or an electronic assembly. In a process for producing the composite material (1) a formulation containing 40% to 85% by volume of ceramic fillers (2), 14% to 59% by volume of at least one cement (3), 1% to 20% by volume of at least one polymer (4) and 0% to 2% by volume of additives is admixed with water and hydraulically set.
