A kit for mounting a crosspiece (3) between a first upright (1) and a second upright (2) is disclosed, together with a process for using said kit; the kit comprises a mounting device (100, 200) that is fixed to one of said two uprights (1, 2) and guides the insertion of the crosspiece (3) between the two uprights (1, 2); the mounting device (100, 200) comprises horizontal centering means (O) for horizontally centering the mounting device (100, 200) relative to an upright (1, 2), a locking means suitable for locking said mounting device (100; 200) to said upright (1, 2); a vertical centering button (5) for vertically centering the mounting device (100, 200) relative to the upright (1, 2) and a support surface (71, 72) that supports the crosspiece (3) during the insertion of the crosspiece (3) between the two uprights (1, 2).
