POTHOLE MONITORING
A method, computer program and apparatus for forecasting pothole occurrence in a road is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving data from at least one telematics device mounted on a vehicle, the data comprising data output by at least one accelerometer mounted on the vehicle and data indicative of a location of the vehicle during the accelerometer data measurement; applying said data processed to be indicative of a roughness of said road to a model generated from stored roughness data derived from similarly processed accelerometer data sampled from roads with a known pothole occurrence, said model relating said roughness data to pothole occurrence; and determining an expected rate of pothole occurrence from the comparison; and outputting a pothole forecast for the road.
