A fastening device 10; 110 for fastening a sanitary fitting to a mounting object, comprising:a) a nut 12; 112 having a screw threading portion 24; 124, the nut being positionable on a stud 11 of the sanitary fitting in two positions, the stud having a threading 15, wherein- in a first position the screw threading portion 24; 124 is disengaged from the threading 15 of the stud 11 and- in a second position the screw threading portion 24; 124 is engaged with the threading 15 of the stud 11,andb) a locking element 14; 114 configured to disallow the screw threading portion 24; 124 of the nut 12; 112 to disengage from the threading 15 of the stud 11 when the nut 12; 112 is in the second position;whereinc) the nut 12; 112 can be brought from the first position to the second position by displacing the nut 12; 112 in a non-parallel direction A with respect to the screw axis x of the stud 11 of the sanitary fitting or by rotating the nut 12; 112.
