The invention relates to an excavating tooth (1) for a bucket of a bucket-wheel excavator, comprising a tooth head (10) for engaging into the material to be excavated and a receiving shaft (11) for arranging in or on a receiving area of a bucket of the bucket-wheel excavator. According to the invention, the tooth head (10) and the receiving shaft (11) are bonded together, wherein the bonded connection is formed by a welding connection. The invention additionally relates to a method for replacing such an excavating tooth (1) on a bucket of a bucket-wheel excavator.
