The invention relates to a handle for a motor vehicle door, the handle comprising a frame (18) which is suitable for attachment to a door, a gripping lever (20) which is pivotably mounted on the frame (18), a hinge part (34) which is designed to pivotably engage the front end (28) of the gripping lever (20) on the frame (18) and to lock the gripping lever (20) longitudinally, characterised in that the hinge part (34) comprises a pivot rod (36) which extends vertically along the pivot axis (A) of the gripping lever (20), a drive arm (56) generally extending radially from the pivot rod (36), and at least one locking hook (50a, 50b) which is connected to the pivot rod (36) and which has a concave locking face (52a, 52b) extending generally around the pivot axis (A) of the gripping lever (20).
