A SYNTHETIC MINERAL COMPOSITION COMPRISING DIOPSIDE, METHODS OF FORMING THIS SYNTHETIC MINERAL COMPOSITION AND ITS USES
The present invention relates to a synthetic mineral composition comprising at least 5 wt % diopside, the balance being other minerals and unavoidable impurities.The present invention also relates to a method of forming a synthetic mineral composition comprising the following steps:- either providing dolomite, calcium carbonate, quartz and calcined alumina to form a mixture;- or providing dolomite, quartz and feldspar to form a mixture;- and heating the mixture to a temperature of 1200-1400 °C.The present invention also relates to uses of a synthetic mineral composition as constituent in a synthetic stone, a paint composition, an ink composition, a filtration medium, a ceramic composition, a dental composition, a biomedical composition, an implant material, a fuel cell or a nuclear waste immobilization composition.
