The present invention relates to a framework (1) for a window (2) comprising at least one sash (3; 4) sliding in line with an opening (5) formed in a wall (6) of a building (7), said framework being noteworthy in that it comprises at least one main frame (10) arranged to be fastened around or in said opening (5), and at least one frame (30; 40) intended to form in part each sash (3; 4) sliding within the main frame (10), the latter comprising two vertical members (11, 12) connected to one another by lower (13) and upper (14) horizontal members, said vertical members (11, 12) and lower (13) and upper (14) horizontal members each forming two longitudinal grooves (114, 124, 134, 144) which are parallel to one another and in at least one of which the sash (3; 4) slides.
