A shovel (100) includes a lower travel body (1), an upper swivel body (3) swingably installed on the lower travel body (1), an excavation attachment (AT) installed on the upper swivel body (3), and a boom angle sensor (S1), an arm angle sensor (S2), and a bucket angle sensor (S3) as a posture detecting device for detecting a posture of the excavation attachment (AT), wherein the shovel 100 is configured to generate a virtual plane (VS) using information about the position of a claw edge of a bucket (6) derived from an output of the posture detecting device.
