The present invention relates to the use of HOPE (High-Density Polyethylene) which in the eligibility tests complies with the friction coefficients according to the EN 1337-2:2000 standard, at least as for a surface pressure, sliding path and/or sliding speed value, said value being greater than the corresponding standard value set and tested in accordance with the EN1337-2:2000 standard, i.e., greater than 30 MPa as for the surface pressure, greater than 10,242 m as for the sliding path and greater than 2 mm/s as for the sliding speed, said HOPE being used as a sliding material in the form of a sliding shoe (2) in the anti-friction structural bearings (1) for the construction of building works, more in particular in the structural bearings (1) compliant with EN 1337-1 :2000 and installed for the construction of bridges of roads, highways, or for high-speed rail structures.
