The present disclosure relates to a perimeter safety screen assembly for a building. In one aspect, the perimeter safety screen assembly comprises an upper screen assembly, and a hanging screen assembly appending from the upper screen assembly, and extending below the upper screen assembly, the hanging screen assembly comprising a frame and a screen, and a hinged platform, the hinged platform comprising a folding section adapted to move between a closed position in which it is extended with respect to a remainder of the hanging screen assembly and an open position in which it is retracted with respect to a remainder of the hanging screen assembly, and wherein the folding section is raised and lowered between its open and closed positions by a lifting mechanism.
