ENERGY HARVESTING METHODS ON DOOR LOCKS
A method of powering a door lock (16) including a deadbolt (410) and a thumb-turn lever (402) mechanically connected to the deadbolt (410) through one or more mechanical linkages including: converting mechanical energy of the deadbolt (410) being moved to electricity using a nanogenerator (634); and providing the electricity to at least one of an energy storage device (510) of the door lock (16) or a controller (24) of the door lock (16), wherein the nanogenerator (634) is located on at least one of the thumb-turn lever (402), the deadbolt (410), or the one or more mechanical linkages.
