MINIMIZATION OF CHEMICAL VAPOR INFILTRATION TOOLING HOLES LENGTH THROUGH WINDOWS
A tooling assembly (10) suitable for use in infiltrating a fibrous preform (16) comprises an outer tooling fixture (14) with a plurality of outer sidewalls (24) defining an inner volume (26), each of the plurality of outer sidewalls (24) having an outer wall thickness, and a window (28) extending through the outer wall thickness of at least one outer sidewall (24) of the plurality of sidewalls (24). The tooling assembly (10) further comprises an inner tooling fixture (12) positioned within the inner volume (26) of the outer tooling fixture (14), the inner tooling fixture (12) having a plurality of inner sidewalls (20), each of the plurality of inner sidewalls (20) having an inner wall thickness, and a plurality of holes (22) extending through the inner wall thickness of at least one inner sidewall (20) of the plurality of inner sidewalls (20). The at least one outer sidewall (24) is positioned adjacent the at least one inner sidewall (20) such that the window (28) overlaps with at least a subset of the plurality of holes (22) in the at least one inner sidewall (20).
