The invention relates to a device (1) comprising a furnace (2) for burning carbonatic, flowable raw material, preferably limestone and/or magnesite and/or dolomite and/or marl, a waste gas utilisation unit (4) for the utilisation of CO2-containing furnace waste gas exiting the furnace (2), wherein the waste gas utilisation unit (4) has a conversion unit for converting the CO2 contained in the waste gas into hydrocarbon and/or alcohol, preferably a methanation unit (26) for converting the CO2 contained in the waste gas into methane and water with the addition of hydrogen, wherein the furnace (2) has means for operating the furnace (2) with a CO2 atmosphere and with no fuel heater for the combustion of fuels in the furnace interior (14) of the furnace (2). The invention also relates to a method for the decarbonation of carbonatic flowable raw material, preferably limestone and/or magnesite and/or dolomite and/or marl, wherein the raw material is decarbonated in a furnace (2) and CO2 contained in the furnace waste gas of the furnace (2) is converted into hydrocarbon and/or alcohol, preferably into methane and water via methanation, wherein the furnace (2) is operated with a CO2 atmosphere, wherein, preferably, the furnace process gas in a furnace interior (14) of the furnace (2) has a CO2 content of preferably ≥ 80 wt.%, particularly preferably ≥ 90 wt.%, more particularly preferably ≥ 98 wt.%, and there is no combustion of fuels in the furnace interior (14) of the furnace (2) to generate the heat energy required for the decarbonation of the raw material.
