The invention relates to an aerosol (A) collector (10) comprising at least one mesh (20) comprising a plurality of elongate liquid (L) collection units (42) which are spaced apart from one another, each collection unit (42) comprising a collection space (46) which extends longitudinally along the collection unit (42) and is configured to collect the liquid (L) from the aerosol in the form of a liquid column extending into the collection space (46) along the collection unit (42), the collection spaces (46) having a transverse dimension c which is smaller than the smallest distance in the transverse direction D between the adjacent collection units (42), the collection units (42) having a transverse dimension of 6 mm or less.
